Getting the best software solution usually requires careful analysis of your business requirements, and a system design that is both imaginative and simple.

Working closely with you, we produce a concise but comprehensive Specification document. You may then use this document to invite tenders for either a package 'off-the-shelf' system, or for a Bespoke System from GRH and/or other software developers.

We regard the specification as the most important part of a project. It defines in precise detail the design that the software must meet, and the reasoning behind it. For bespoke developments, it also enables a system to be optimally designed to meet a clearly defined set of business requirements, for a fair development cost.

Contents of the specification

The typical GRH specification includes:-

• Business Analysis. This section sets out the business objectives, an overview of the requirements, key notes, and current processes.
• Proposed System Design. This maps out a simple design for a system. It includes a menu map to define the main functionality required, system notes, and key screen and report formats.

A GRH specification has the following objectives:-

• To clearly define the business objectives, and document key aspects of the business.
• To propose a system design that meets the defined business requirements above.
• To give the client the opportunity to confirm the analysis of the business, and to play a major role in the design of the system.
• To provide a basis for the invitation of fixed prices quotes for the software solution, and
• For Bespoke solutions, to help the developer (GRH or otherwise) to optimise the design of the system, by clearly defining the system requirements. An optimal design should mean greater simplicity and better performance.
